Orange & Cinnamon Granola (Skin- and Gut-Friendly)

By Lucy Sugars, Nutritional Therapist

This crunchy, golden granola is bursting with flavour thanks to zesty orange and warming cinnamon. It’s high in fibre, packed with healthy fats, and naturally sweetened with a touch of honey – ideal for a skin-supportive and gut-loving breakfast.

Nuts provide zinc and vitamin E, while oats bring beta-glucans for gut health. Orange zest adds a fresh twist and a little vitamin C – helpful for collagen production and glowing skin.

Perfect served with Greek yoghurt, plant milk or sprinkled over stewed fruit. And yes – it works beautifully with collagen too!

You can make this Low FODMAP by swapping the honey for maple syrup, and avoiding cashews (use almonds and Brazil nuts instead). Avoid adding in the optional coconut flakes.

📝 Ingredients

Dry mix:

  • 500g jumbo oats
  • 200g chopped mixed nuts (cashews, almonds, Brazil nuts)
  • Zest of 2 large oranges

Wet mix:

  • 120g coconut oil (or olive oil)
  • 100g honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp orange blossom extract (optional)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of sea salt

Optional: Coconut flakes – 50-100g (add in final 5 mins of baking)

👩‍🍳 Method

  1. Mix oats, chopped nuts and orange zest in a large bowl.
  2. Gently melt wet mix ingredients in a pan over low heat.
  3. Pour wet mix over oats and stir to coat evenly.
  4. Spread onto a lined tray in a thin layer.
  5. Bake at 170°C for 20–25 mins, stirring halfway. Ideally it will turn slightly golden.
  6. Cool completely and store in an airtight container.

Caution: it can burn if left unattended, and does need a mix half way to ensure it gets golden all over and not just the top side.
